This accent graham used is the exact same one he used to play capone. My first thought after finish The Irishman was: This film is a 'end' to gangster movies the same way Unforgiven was (and still is) to westerns. Producers and directors may even release gangster/western movies in the future (some already launched good stuff in the past 20 years) but they will never replicate this kind of atmosphere. When I watched this movie for the first time, my father, 56 years of age, told me how his father told him about growing up in Philadelphia, and how he grew up in an era where things like this were every-day occurrences. Although he has passed, my grandfather would love to see this film. He was in the Navy, and his brother worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. A bit overkill much.

No doubt some great acting from the legends, but the plot is very slow, boring and predictable. As a fan of gangster movies and the cast, I persevered to watch it to the very disappointing end, albight in 4 separate sessions, as I fell asleep in two if them.

By the way, De Niro and Pesci are doing stunning job for the entire time. They are genuine and they feel the whole thing. But it's Pacino that outshines, because he is the real Hoffa.
